Typical Uses
-
Typically track ballast is packed between, below and around railway sleepers to enable load distribution from the sleepers, water percolation and reduce plant growth that may interfere with the track structure
-
Track ballast can also be used as a fines free sub base, in drainage applications, for haul roads and hard standings
Useful Information
- Produced to comply with Network Rail specifications
- When compacted will hold together due to the angular nature of the aggregate and allow water to pass through (percolate) the voids created by having no fines
- Product can be confused with all in ballast or recycled track ballast
